MIDLAND - Thick black smoke had a lot of residents in Midland concerned on Sunday afternoon.
The black smoke was coming from a fire near Bedford Street in Midland.
The fire department tells NewsWest 9, it started around 2:30 p.m. in a pit where the Wild River Canyon Waterpark used to be.
People had been dumping old tires in the pit which created the black smoke.
About one acre burned but nothing was damaged.
Firefighters are still trying to determine the cause.
