ANDREWS COUNTY - Low-level radioactive waste from across the state will soon be headed for Andrews.

Waste Control Specialists announced on Wednesday that they signed a contract with Bio-Nomics Inc. to accept waste from across Texas.

The waste will come from research universities and hospitals including both the University of Texas and Texas A&M.

The Waste Control Specialists facility in western Andrews County is the only commercial facility in the country that can dispose of three different classes of waste.

The radioactive material could be at the disposal site by the end of the year.
