CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Eddy County has imposed a partial ban on the sale and use of certain fireworks because of the extremely dry conditions in southeastern New Mexico.

The Eddy County Commission passed a resolution Tuesday prohibiting the sale and use of missile-type rockets, helicopters, aerial spinner, stick-type rockets and ground audibles.

Eddy County fire officials told the commission that should the county receive adequate rainfall before July 4, the fireworks ban can then be lifted.
