CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A Carlsbad man has been convicted of child abuse involving his infant daughter.
A District Court jury on Friday found 19-year-old Arthur "Trey" McClintock III guilty of child abuse resulting in great bodily harm.
The Current Argus says McClintock testified that he may have used "too much force" with his daughter Baylee.
The baby was flown to a Texas hospital in March 2010 where a CT scan revealed multiple subdural hemorrhages in her head in various stages of healing.
The then 3-month-old girl was found to have bleeding into the brain and swelling of the brain. She also had a skull fracture and hemorrhaging in the retinas of her eyes, leaving her permanently blind.
Medical examiners said her injuries were trauma-related.
