MIDLAND - Water restrictions are still voluntary in Midland for now.
The City Council didn't vote on making them mandatory on Tuesday.
That's because the city's water usage has leveled off.
There were concerns last month after the city went over its amount twice in one week.
Right now, they're planning on focusing on educating everyone on when they can water their yards and why it's important to conserve.
While the Council may be holding off now, they still have the option to make those restrictions mandatory.
That could mean a fine up to $500 if you're caught.
