FORT STOCKTON - Opponents of pumping water out of Pecos County had their chance to be heard on Thursday.

It was the second day of a permit hearing in Fort Stockton.

Fort Stockton Holdings, which is owned by Clayton Williams, wants to pump water out of Williams' property in the county.

They need a permit to do it.

The company says, studies show it won't hurt the aquifer.

But the City of Fort Stockton, Pecos County and Brewster County stepped up on Thursday to fight the permit.

They're worried what pumping the water out will mean for their water resources in the future.
