Power Could be Off in Fort Davis for Days

FORT DAVIS - Fort Davis is starting to assess the damage after a massive fire erupted Saturday.

KRTS, Marfa Public Radio, reports that no one was injured in the fires around Fort Davis, but some of the fires were still smoldering in town Sunday morning.

An official burned structure count was hard to come by, but it is known that homes were lost in the fire that started Saturday and burned into the night.

Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson told NewsWest9 Saturday evening that he counted at least 14 burned homes in and around Fort Davis.

KRTS reports that roads were expected to open around Fort David Sunday morning, but only residents would be let in. KRTS also reports that the power could be off for up to five days and the water supply in town remains very limited.
