Odessa Couple Indicted After Botched Burglary Attempt

ODESSA - An Odessa couple has been charged in a botched burglary that turned deadly.

Tonya and David Whitehead are accused of stealing copper wire.

They remain locked up in the Ector County Detention Center.

The couple was arrested last month after a burglary attempt went bad on Muskingum Drive.

The homeowner fired shots after he saw three people trying to steal copper wire from one of his trucks.

One of the suspects, 53-year-old Rodney Allen Burns was hit and died.

The homeowner has not been charged.
