BIG SPRING - The fate of the Big Spring State Park is still hanging in limbo.
The City of Big Spring approved creating a special committee to look into operating the park locally if the state cuts their funding.
It's one of several state parks on the chopping block.
Some locals have already approached the City about helping out financially.
If the budget cuts go through, the Council hopes to find a way to keep the park running with as little financial impact to the city and county as possible.
Once the city comes up with a plan, they'll hand it over to the county to look at.
