AUSTIN - Representative Tom Craddick was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed on Wednesday morning.

The Midland lawmaker fell and hit his head as he was giving testimony for a bill to ban texting and driving.

The 67-year-old was alert and said to be joking as he was transported.

According to an official statement, Craddick will stay at the hospital overnight as a precaution and is expected to be released on Thursday morning.

Craddick had a bad reaction to a medicine that was prescribed for the problems associated with his tooth.
