MIDLAND - Taking a bite out of a Midland police officer lands a Midland man in jail.

53-year-old Adam Spinks, Junior, is charged with aggravated assault of a public servant.

He's also a registered sex offender.

We're told management at the Coventry Apartments contacted Officer Brad Barnes after complaints that Spinks was hanging out at the complex but he didn't live there.

According to the arrest affidavit, when Officer Barnes approached Spinks, he became erratic.

After trying to handcuff the suspect, Spinks began to throw punches at the officer.

Officer Barnes shoved Spinks into a dumpster and eventually grabbed his legs to take him down.

That's when the man leaned over and bit the officer on the head.

Officer Barnes was taken to Midland Memorial for blood tests and so was the suspect.
