MIDLAND - Ask any Texan and they'll tell you they're proud to live in their state.
On Wednesday, Midlanders gathered to celebrate Texas Independence Day.
The celebration was held at the Haley Memorial Library with the Midland Historical Societies Annual "Toast to Texas."
The event got kicked off with the ceremonial reading of Joe B. Frantz's toast using shot glasses filled with water from right here in Midland.
A flag was raised that had been flown over the capitol, the Alamo and significant Texas landmarks like Goliad and Washington-on-the-Brazos.
