Downed Power Line to Blame for Large Grassfire in Andrews County

ANDREWS COUNTY - We now have a cause for the grassfire that sparked up over the weekend in Andrews County.

Andrews fire officials tell NewsWest 9, a downed power line that was blown over by the wind caused it.

Roughly 80,000 acres were charred in the fire.

It took the Andrews Fire Department almost 10 hours to get this fire out.

The fire started near FM 1788 and the high winds carried it as far as six miles north and east of FM 1788.
