FORT STOCKTON - Continuing coverage on the fight to stop water from being pumped out of Pecos County.

NewsWest 9 has learned the city of Fort Stockton has shot down an offer by Fort Stockton Holdings for a settlement agreement.

This comes after an hour long meeting on Monday night.

The City Council voted unanimously to reject the offer.

Instead they've decided to join their resources together with Pecos County to continue the fight.

Fort Stockton Holdings, owned by Oilman Clayton Williams, wants to pump water out of Pecos County and sell it to Midland.

The company is seeking a permit to do that and had offered the city a settlement to withdraw from the water battle.
