BIG SPRING - Big Spring fire crews have new firefighting weapon.

The department received a new brush truck on Wednesday.

Just like its name, it's especially designed to fight brush fires and can pump water while it's moving.

Fire officials say the truck can do a lot more than that.

"We're gonna use it for brush fires, of course. We'll use it for some EMS first response, we'll also use it in town for smaller fires, dumpster fires, things of that nature, because it's smaller and we can get it down alleys.  It'll get places our big trucks can't," Big Spring Deputy Chief, Steven Bedell, said.

The truck was acquired through a grant with the Texas Forest Service.
