Sul Ross University is joining the fight to keep pronghorn deer in West Texas.
The school will be joining forces with Texas Parks and Wildlife to relocate pronghorn from the Texas panhandle to the Trans-Pecos.
In the next few weeks, students, researchers and volunteers will capture 200 of the deer and then relocate them to the Marfa plateau.
All of the pronghorn will be fitted with ear tags so the population can be studied.
The number of pronghorn deer in West Texas have been on the decline in recent years.
Researches are concerned because the drop doesn't seem to be tied to drought conditions.
