ANDREWS - It's a hot issue in Andrews, big trucks making their way through the city.

It'll be up to the voters in Andrews to decide if that will be a thing of the past.

The City Council has put the issue regarding the truck reliever route on the May 14th ballot.

The Council wants to raise the sales tax in Andrews by a quarter to 8.25%, that's the state maximum.

That extra money is expected to raise between five and six million dollars to help with the project.

The county is also stepping in to help pay for the project by cutting the cost in half for the City of Andrews.

If voters approve the new sales tax, construction will begin in January 2012.
