MIDLAND - A Midland man accused of stabbing his brother in law to death says it was self-defense.

Aaron Lee Evans remains behind bars on murder charges.

According to his arrest affidavit, Evans told police he was acting in self-defense when he killed Jeffrey Edwards.

Edwards was found outside of a home on Hoya Drive.

He had been stabbed several times in the chest.

Police say Evans and his mother got into a shouting match but things escalated and Evans started smashing windows in the home before he attacked his mother.
