Fire Evacuates Homes Near Hobbs, Close to 60 Acres Burned

LEA COUNTY - A wind-driven fire evacuated some homes near Hobbs this morning.

New Mexico State Forestry spokesman Dan Ware tells NewsWest9 some 60 acres have been burned north of Hobbs.

15 homes had to be evacuated for about an hour, but those evacuations have been lifted. The blaze was caused by a welder.

Crews from Lea County and local cities are fighting the blaze.
