Big Spring Man Killed in Crash in New Mexico

LEA COUNTY - A Big Spring man is dead after a single car crash near Hobbs. New Mexico State Police were called to the accident Saturday night just before 9:00 on State Road 529.

Officers say that 26-year-old Chad Puga of Big Spring was driving a 2002 Chevy Pickup when the truck left the roadway and rolled several times.

19-year-old Cory Puga and 26-year-old Chase Musgrove were ejected from the truck. All three were taken by helicopter to a Lubbock hospital. Cory Puga died Sunday from his injuries. Chad Puga was treated and released. Musgrove is still listed in critical condition.

State Police say Cory Puga and Musgrove were not wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash at this time.

Officers are still investigating what caused the truck to leave the roadway before it rolled.
