FORT STOCTON--He's accused of stealing money from the Pecos County Attorney's office.

The indictment, filed on January 26 of this year, says the person at the center of it all, was an employee of the Pecos County Attorney when it all happened.

A Pecos County Grand Jury was convened in November of last year to hear the details of the case.

The indictment alleges that 57-year-old Aldo Martinez Gonzales stole the money between October 1st, 2007 through the end of July of 2008. Aldo Gonzales was employed by, then County Attorney Jesse Gonzales, as an investigator.

Jesse Gonzales, who is now the District Attorney for the 83rd District in Fort Stockton, confirmed that employment information in a phone conversation with NewsWest 9. He also said Aldo Gonzales is currently employed, in the same position, at the DA's office.

According to the indictment, the amount Aldo Gonzales is accused of stealing was between $500 and $1,500, theft by a public servant is a state jail felony.  Gonzales is free on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

District Attorney Gonzales says Aldo Gonzales is currently on administrative leave but would not comment on the case since it is an ongoing investigation.

And just to clear up any confusion or misunderstanding, Aldo Gonzales and Jesse Gonzales are not related.
