RUIDOSO, N.M. (AP) - Officials in Ruidoso are asking residents to conserve water.

Because of last week's extremely cold temperatures and recent snow, municipal water supplies are down because of line breaks at residences. Village officials say they are unable to keep up with current demands and they need the public's help.

Residents are asked to refrain from non-essential water use.

Village officials say residents can also help by alerting authorities to any water leaks by calling the Ruidoso emergency operations center.
