Two Women Killed in Boating Accident at Lake J.B. Thomas

New information on a deadly boating accident in Scurry County. We now know the names of the Stanton family members that drowned.

The women who drowned have been identified as Melody and Erin Cook.

They were with their husbands, fishing on Lake J.B. Thomas on Saturday, when their boat capsized.

Investigators say their propellers got wrapped up in trot lines.

The group leaned over to get the lines out when the boat tipped over.

We're told Kyle Cook hung on to the boat. His son, Kevin, pulled his daughter in law, Erin, to shore. She died at the hospital.

The mother, Melody Cook, couldn't be found.

Her body was found on Sunday.

Kyle and Kevin Cook were taken to the hospital and have been released.

Funeral services have been set for the women.

Graveside services for Melody Cook are set for Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring at 2 p.m.

Services for Erin Cook will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Stanton.
