MIDLAND COUNTY - Firefighters have contained a truck fire that started in Midland County on Sunday afternoon.

The thick black smoke was pouring out of a hot oil truck, near a pump jack.

The truck was in a field off Highway 1788 and Highway 349.

It's not clear how the tanker caught fire but fire crews kept our cameras back, fearing the truck might blow.

Firefighters were able to cut off the fuel source and the fire was put out.

The Midland Fire Department had to notify the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality because some of that oil in the truck leaked onto farm land.

No word if the driver of the tanker was hurt.
