MIDLAND/ODESSA - A big chunk of change just landed the City of Odessa's bank account, thanks to the sales tax collected for January.
They just got a check for more than $1.5 million.
That's 26 percent more than they got last year.
They're well ahead of what they collected in total for all of last fiscal year and are already ahead of last year's pace by more than a million dollars.
In Midland, a huge jump in the sales for January.
They're up a whopping 36 percent.
Last year, they took in 1.8 million dollars.
This time around they raked in $2.2 million.
So far this year, they've collected almost nine million dollars for the fiscal year.
