EDDY COUNTY, N.M. - The Juvenile Detention Center in Eddy County is closing their doors temporarily.
County Commissioners are shutting it down because of construction on a new detention center.
They're worried about security issues and noise while the new center is being built, which includes a place for underage inmates.
Construction on part of the jail is expected to end sometime in September.
For now, the warden is looking at trying to house those young inmates in Chaves and Lea Counties while construction is being done.
