Two Men Sentenced in Murder of Former Odessan

SEATTLE - Two men have been sentenced in the murder of a former Odessa resident.

Steven Bauder and Marcus Dennis were sentenced to 26 years in prison after pleading guilty to the beating death of Noel Lopez at a Seattle construction site back in April of 2008.

Lopez was a former resident of Odessa and still has family in West Texas.

The Seattle Times reports that Lopez was mentally ill and that Bauder and Dennis attacked him because they believed he had raped a homeless girl. The Times reports that police believed Lopez was obsessed with the girl, but they never had a sexual relationship.

Prosecutors said that Bauder was a member of the Downtown Juggalos street gang, which is a nickname for fans of the rap group the Insane Clown Posse.
