FORT STOCKTON - The City of Fort Stockton is cracking down on fake pot.

The Fort Stockton City Council banned synthetic marijuana on Tuesday.

That means it's now illegal for businesses to sell K-2, which is supposed to be used as an incense, but instead more and more young people are getting high off of it.

Police tell NewsWest 9, three businesses in Fort Stockton sell K-2.

Local drug experts say unlike real marijuana, K-2 is almost 10 times more potent than the real stuff, plus it can lead to some nasty side effects including vomiting and panic attacks.

The ordinance will go into effect next week.
