MIDLAND - It's official. Midland County Constable 'Choc' Harris is set to retire next month.
The Precinct two Constable tells NewsWest 9, he turned in his letter of resignation stating he wishes to retire on Monday in Commissioners Court.
The entire thing happened behind closed doors during executive session.
The resignation letter comes shortly after Harris was in court last week on charges with tampering with government documents.
The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards in Education or TECLOSE started investigating Harris this summer after he improperly filed paperwork on two of his deputies.
The details about that case are under wraps but should be released sometime in January.
Midland County Commissioners have 30 days to find a replacement for Harris.
