Officials Investigating Fire in Odessa

ODESSA - Officials are investigating after a fire sparked up in Odessa.

Officials tell NewsWest 9, they believe the fire was intentionally set.

Neighbors tell NewsWest 9 at around 7 p.m. they heard an explosion and they saw a home in the 900 block of East 5th Street completely engulfed in flames.

Officials say that 50 percent of the home was completely destroyed. Debris and dry grass helped fuel the flames to a nearby power pole, which was destroyed.

The power pole knocked out power to the entire block, leaving eight homes without power.

Five people in all were in the home at the time, two of whom are wheelchair bound.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene to help the displaced family members.

The fire caused some damage to two adjacent homes, one was vacant and the other had no one home at the time.

Investigators are suspecting a possible arson in the case and they may have two suspects and are being questioned by authorities.
