Soldier From Odessa Killed in Afghanistan Attack

WASHINGTON (AP) - A soldier from West Texas has been killed in a bombing in Afghanistan.

The Defense Department on Tuesday announced the death of 32-year-old Staff Sgt. Jason A. Reeves of Odessa.

Military officials say Reeves died Sunday at Gardez District, Paktia Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit.

Reeves was assigned to the 2nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 66th Military Intelligence Brigade, Hohenfels, Germany.

So far there's no word on funeral arrangements or when Reeves remains will be returned to the U.S.
