ODESSA - NewsWest 9 talked to the Red Cross, we talked to police, and we talked to neighbors. They say this Ector County fire is now being investigated as arson.

Police have in custody 28-year-old David Earl Reeves. He was arrested Saturday afternoon and is currently being charged with criminal trespass and arson.

The fire broke out on Stoner Road around 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

One neighbor, who saw it all happen, told NewsWest 9, Reeves threw a firebomb into the family's car, setting it on fire, which in turn caught both the carport and the mobile home in the blaze.

Neighbors that NewsWest 9 talked to at the aftermath say everything they heard points to arson.

"They heard like a noise shattering or something, they couldn't really describe it. But next thing we know the back of the truck's on fire," the family's landlord, Tom Vasek, said.

As NewsWest 9 previously reported, the family made it out alright. They did, however, lose a couple pets in the fire and two of their dogs are suffering from smoke inhalation.

Reeves is being held at the Ector County Detention Center on a more than $50,000 bond.

Ector County officials tell NewsWest 9, they're still investigating exactly what happened with that fire.
