Alpine Teacher Killed in Head-On Collision

JEFF DAVIS COUNTY - An Alpine teacher is dead after a head on collision on Thursday night in Jeff Davis County.

The wreck happened about 14 miles south of Fort Davis, along Highway 118.

State Troopers tell NewsWest 9, 57-year-old year Margaret Simpson Miller tried to pass another driver in a no passing zone.

She crashed head-on into a pick-up coming from the other way.

Miller died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Sherri Luanne Porter, suffered a broken leg.

Her daughters, ages 4 and 12, suffered bumps and bruises.
