The former Executive Director for the West Texas Council of Campfire USA will spend more than two years in the federal pen.
That's the sentence for 54-year-old Michael Burney after he admitted to stealing more than $390,000 from Campfire.
He plead guilty to bank fraud and identity theft.
Burney forged signatures of Campfire board members on checks and made them out to himself.
He then deposited them into his bank account.
To cover his tracks, he used computer accounting software to change the organization's monthly bank statements, change the name on the checks, and to create fake invoices.
