MIDLAND - A Midland judge is set to decide if Midland County families with contaminated water can question an oil company and others in court.

A hearing will be held December 21st.

The families have been dealing with chromium contaminated water since last year.

Environmental Activist Erin Brockovich has taken on their case.

She believes Schlumberger is responsible for the chromium contamination.

But Schlumberger tells NewsWest 9, they never used chromium at their plant in Midland County.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, the company says "they share their neighbors desire to learn facts and to keep our families safe and healthy. they'll rely on science and facts and avoid speculation and encourage everyone involved to do the same."

The company says it has fully worked with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Environmental Protection Agency since October and there's no evidence they're responsible for the contamination.
