MIDLAND - As you get ready to enjoy thanksgiving dinner with the family, the City of Midland is asking you not to throw grease, oil or fats down the drain to avoid a smelly problem.

It's all to keep the sewer lines clear.

When you pour fatty foods down the drain, it clogs and raw sewage can back up into your home.

To avoid that, put your grease and food scraps into the trash.

The city also suggests using paper towels to clean it up.

Washing greasy cloth towels or rags can also clog up the sewer.
