HOWARD COUNTY - Howard County firefighters aren't willing to take any chances with these dry conditions, they want a burn ban now.
Volunteer Fire Chief Tommy Sullivan says he will ask for that ban at this coming Monday's commissioner court meeting.
He says the wind and increasingly dry vegetation is dramatically increasing the potential for fire danger.
The commissioners generally approve those requests, but until then, fire officials want you to be extra careful.
Don't burn any trash and keep a close eye on anything that uses an open flame or heat and avoid parking or stopping your car or truck over dry grass.
