MIDLAND COUNTY - A blown out tire is getting the blame for starting a grassfire that put several homes in serious danger on Wednesday afternoon, south of Midland.
The fire sparked up just after 2:00p.m., near the FM 307 exit.
Fire officials say sparks from that blow out ignited the dry grass then the wind whipped it into a full blown grass fire in a matter of minutes.
The fast moving flames endangered several homes south of the Interstate but firefighters were able to save them.
No word yet on any damage but power crews were called to the scene to deal with burning power poles.
No injuries have been reported.
