PRESIDIO COUNTY - The extremely dry conditions in Presidio County forced officials there to put a total burn ban into effect.
Commissioners passed the 90 day ban.
It includes all outdoor burning, even trash barrels, campfires and welding in grassy areas.
Outdoor cooking is allowed in barbeque pits only.
Drivers are asked not to park in dead or tall grass and smokers are urged to use ashtrays and not throw their butts out the window.
If you violate the burn ban, you could face a $500.00 fine.
Officials say a dry fall, combined with the large growth from the summer rains, are the perfect combination for wild fires.
