Odessa Junior High Student Accused of Punching Coach in the Mouth

ODESSA - An Odessa junior high student is accused of socking a coach in the face.

So hard, that the teacher - had to get stitches.

The incident happened on Tuesday at Hood Junior High school in Odessa.

School administrators tell NewsWest 9, Coach Kyle Hubbard was trying to break up a fight between students when an 8th grader hit him in the mouth.

We're told Hubbard had to get five stitches in his face, as a result of the hit.

The 8th grader was arrested and is being charged with assault causing bodily injury, which is a misdemeanor.

The student was taken to the Ector County Youth Center and was released the next day.

In addition to his misdemeanor charge, the student will face disciplinary action from the school.
