BIG SPRING - The roads are becoming a dangerous place for bikers. There have been three fatal motorcycle accidents in less than a week, two in Midland and one in Big Spring. Now police are urging everyone to pay more attention to who they're sharing the road with.

"Motorcycles riders need to be prepared for anything," Sergeant Tony Everett with the Big Spring Police Department, said.

That's the message police want to get out there they want people to be extra careful especially now that there seems to be more motorcycles on the road.

"There is a lot more motorcycles out. Fuel prices for motorcycles are cheaper way to get around so their quite a few," Everett said.

Police say not only do the bike riders have to be careful but most of the times the drivers of the cars are the ones who cause the accident.

"Most of the time in motorcycle accident, I see the person in the car says they didn't see the motorcycle," Everett said.

But the car drivers don't carry all the blame. Bike riders need to make sure they are always alert and making sure they are safe.

"You need to know what your gonna do if you get in to a situation because if you're not paying attention that's when you will get hurt," Everett said.

"You have to be a lot more careful on a motorcycle because with a car you have protection around you. With a motorcycle, you have no protection your gonna hit the ground," Everett said.
