HOBBS, N.M. - It's a guilty verdict for a Hobbs teenager, convicted of murdering his mother's boyfriend.
17-year-old Michael Evans was found guilty on Friday afternoon on both counts of second degree murder and tampering with evidence.
Police say Evans used a rifle to shoot and kill 56-year-old Darnell Mitchell back in march, following a domestic dispute.
Evans must undergo a diagnostic evaluation before the penalty phase of his trial.
We're told he's facing up to 20 years in prison.
