MIDLAND - Midland Police have located the woman who was wanted in connection with a bizarre accident that left one man dead, and several others hurt.
Police located 22-year-old Toni Lara Lopez just after midnight Friday morning at a hotel on the Westside of Midland. Lopez was questioned and then released. She remains a person of interest in the case.
Midland investigators believe she was driving a stolen Chevy Suburban that slammed into a private street sweeper early Thursday morning at the intersection of Powell and Illinois.
Lopez was speeding away from the Midtown motel when the accident happened. Police say one of the occupants in the Suburban, 22-year-old Rashad Bell, had just stolen $170 from the register at the hotel.
When Lopez crashed into the sweeper, 34-year-old Ronnie Lee Randolph was thrown from the vehicle. He was then run-over and crushed beneath it. Two other people on the sweeper were taken to the hospital.
