A federal appeals court has upheld the prison sentence for a man convicted of trying to rob an armored truck in Odessa.

21-year-old Joshua Bell will serve nearly 26 years in prison.

Bell appealed his sentence saying the district court abused its discretion by imposing an unreasonable sentence.

Bell and two other men plead guilty last year to the crime.

The charges date back to an attempted armored truck heist in June of 2009.

That led to a shootout near the Western National Bank on north Grandview.
