CARLSBAD, N.M. - A Carlsbad woman accused of having sex with a student has been sentenced on a lesser charge.
33-year-old Melinda Bridges plead guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor last month.
She'll serve 17 months in state prison.
Bridges allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old student.
Police say bridges and the boy left New Mexico after being questioned in May of 2009 about the alleged affair.
They were found in Louisiana five days later.
Bridges was a substitute teacher at Jefferson Montessori Academy where the teen was a student.
