Guilty of murder, that's the verdict for a New Mexico man who spent 17 years on the run before being captured in Odessa.
40-year-old Arnoldo Navarette was convicted of first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
A New Mexico jury handed down the verdict on Thursday.
Prosecutors say Navarette and another person drove to a Portales home back in may of 1993 and opened fire on Reynaldo Ornelas, Sr.
Navarette was arrested in Odessa in June 2009 and admitted to hiding out in Mexico, Colorado and Texas during the past 17 years.
He now faces up to life behind bars.
