Schools in Balmorhea are stepping in to help their town EMS services.
Balmorhea EMS doesn't have enough trained EMT's to continue running ambulances.
So the City of Pecos is having to cover the entire span of reeves county.
The Pecos EMS Director says EMT training costs thousands of dollars and they can't find volunteers who can afford to pay for it.
So Odessa College and Balmorhea schools are offering their space and educators in hopes of solving the county-wide crunch.
Right now, Odessa College is waiting on a grant that would provide training at little or no cost to the volunteers.
The next meeting for the Pecos EMS Task Force is set for Thursday night at city hall.
