BIG SPRING - Big Spring work crews are at it again trying to repair a water main leak that's been going on for a few months but it hasn't been an easy fix. This is the second time the crews have tried to repair the leak.

Fixing the leak near FM 700 is not as easy as it sounds. Crews are having to block off millions of gallons of tank water before they can even get started. Here's the problem, a 20 inch water leak and a broken valve, but they needed to shut off the water from two tanks.

They brought a diving team to try to shut off the water and this is the second time the team has gone in but this time they say they have the part that they need. As soon the divers stop the water from going out of the tank, the work crews can go in.

City officials say although this is a long process, this is the best way to fix the problems.

"There's no way to valve out the water coming out of the tanks and you would literally have to drain both tanks and each tank holds one million gallons of water. You would literally have to drain both tanks and refill the tanks. What we wanted to do was do the job with out losing all that water," Jim Piper, with the City of Big Spring, said.

The crews hope to finish by the end of the week.

In the meantime, some customers may suffer low water pressure in some areas and could see some flowing. The city says these are necessary measures to keep the water pressure even throughout the city.
