A Midland man faces life in federal prison for trying to kidnap a teenager.

33-year-old Tomas Diaz plead guilty on Thursday to attempted abduction of a minor.

Diaz was arrested back in March in Ranger, Texas after he attempted to make contact with a 16 year-old girl he claimed was his niece.

On Thursday, he admitted to communicating with the girl by MySpace, email, cell phone and to transmitting sexually explicit images.

Diaz says he also told the girl he was interested in a sexual relationship, even though he knew her age.

He faces ten years to life in prison.
