MARFA - A Tall City man in serious trouble after Border Patrol agents find hundreds of pounds of marijuana in his pick up.
Around 9:00a.m. Wednesday morning, 34-year-old Jorge Morales of Midland was attempting to go through the Border Patrol checkpoint on Highway 67, south of Marfa.
It was a routine immigration check, but ended up being much more serious.
Agents found close to 900 pounds of marijuana in the back of Morales' pick up.
The drugs were packaged inside metal containers that were hidden inside an auxiliary gas tank in the bed of pick up.
The tank was also loaded with diesel fuel.
Morales, the drugs and the truck were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Morales is behind bars at the Brewster County Jail.
No word on bond or what charges he faces.
Marijuana has different street values, depending on where it's coming from and where it's going.
We're told the pot seized in Marfa is worth between $340,000 and $400,000.
